    SHE WAS SOMETHING ELSE

Today is a sad day in the Xangaverse.  I just noticed that one of my favorite bloggers has shut down her site.

The blogger’s name was Katy.  I don’t know how I came across her blog, but I think she subscribed to me when I was a “Featured Weblog” a few months ago.  The first thing I noticed when I initially visited her blog was the title of it, which was “I’m Sorry I Ruined Your Life”.   And from then I was hooked.  She was a 19-year old young lady from somewhere in Indiana (I think it was South Bend).  There was nothing truly spectacular about her blog.  She didn’t write about life or the Universe or other obscure things.   She didn’t post a zillion pictures or puzzles or quizzes or surveys.  She didn’t beg for attention or comments.  I may have been her only reader as I seemed to be the only one who ever commented.  I don’t know.  Her blog was simply a diary.  She wrote about living in a house with her boyfriend Rick and a couple of other dudes.  She wrote about how Rick left her at home while he went out drinking with his friends.  She wrote about her fishing trips with her roommate Jeremiah and how there may have been some sort of attraction between them.  She wrote about a new female roommate who messed with her stuff in the bathroom.  She wrote about her sister’s wedding.  She wrote about the gas station that she worked at, and how her boss and co-workers were retarded.  This blog may not have been substantial, but she wrote it as if she was talking, and there was a comedic innocence about it that was highly endearing.

I don’t know how long her site has been down.  I have a subscription to her blog, and when I noticed that she wasn’t updating I clicked over to it.  I was saddened when I saw a Xanga message that said that the site was shut down by the owner.  I was highly dispirited by this, and I don’t really know why.  I never would have imagined that I would miss a stranger’s blog.  I wonder if this happens to other bloggers, or if my emotions are just out of control.  I don’t understand myself.

I hope she comes back again someday.  She was something else.

This has happened to me several times over the years.  I still wonder about them.  It's strange, though: it's not like I knew them or talked to them, yet I felt connected to them somehow and felt like they just left me hanging without a word of warning. :(

I hope, if I ever shut down my blog, that I get this nice of a good bye.

Weird huh, how connected you kind of feel to them?  It's also nice to go to bloggers whose stuff you haven't read up in a while and you kind of just 'catch up' with them.

    I'm sure she was.

It's happened to me several times. I still wonder what happened and where did they go. Sometimes I think that, hey, what if I get into a car accident tomorrow and die, none of my blog readers (except those who know me in "real life") would know. All that would be left is a blog that remains static without any updates. It's a bit scary and sad if you think about it.

if u have a good league, lemme know, i still want to join 1 more, as long as the other owners are active and they care about their teams.

I hate when ppl comment on blogs and it has nothing to do with the blog Why dont they just message you???

your favorite blogger probably went to facebook. Im sure if she knew how you felt she would have stayed so I'm just gonna let you know that if you ever close your page Ill miss your blogs. You are pretty funny for an asian guy...

Yes, this happened to me.....and I've been guilty of shutting down my xanga sites too...only because I felt that my family were looking me up and also because I have received only negative comments on my blog everytime I posted...either negative comments or stupid religious comments.
