    RETINOSCHISIS

Answer these existential questions correctly and we'll be friends:

    1.  You're at a swanky Christmas party attended by local dignitaries and celebrities.  While at the bar you get into a conversation with a well known author and writer.  After a few hours of conversation, she is genuinely fascinated with your life and expresses that she wants to write a book about you.  However, she says that she does not want to write a "traditional" biography.  She has a special "gift" where she could view your dreams while you sleep.  She wishes to observe your dreams for 30 straight nights, interpret them as short stories, and publish them in a book.  This book would be available for all the world (including your friends and family) to read, and it would be titled "[You Name Here]'s Dreams".  Her "gift" is real, well-known, and not a hoax.  She offers you $100,000.00 for the rights to do this biography of you.  Do you take this offer?

    2.  A great cosmic event occurs in the far reaches of the Universe (as observed by the Hubble Space Telescope).  At first, it is presumed that this event has no apparent consequences to Earth.  However, several years later it is evident that astrological birth signs are becoming very accurate in determining one's personality.  The proof is indisputable (i.e. people born under Gemini are, in fact, smart... people born under Libra are, in fact, good-looking... people born under Scorpio are, generally, assholes... etc.).  Scientists have actually proven that the Zodiac is REAL.  Considering this new discovery, are you more or less likely to plan the birthdate of your next child?

    1. yes as long as I remain her anonymous muse. since I'd probably sleep with her for $10 I'm sure I'd prostitute my innermost thoughts and dreams for a $100,000. I don't remember most of my dreams so I'd really like to know what she finds out. that money will also cover most of my school loans. besides, I can just lie to my friends and family about her psychic ability and accuse her of being a lying whore set out to exploit me.

    2. more likely. I can't stand people under the tiger/aquarius sign. I want a taurus/rat or taurus/dragon child. of course this is because I am a textbook aries monkey.

oh, man.. the pressure. this is going to determine our friendship, eh? *palms sweating*

    1. yes. i don't control what goes on in my dreams.. and for 100k, hell.. i'll make out with her. it'd be interesting to see what she finds out, too. i'm sure my friends and family will take into consideration that these "short stories" form my dreams -- again, something that i cannot control.

    2. well.. to me, this is similar to those morons who want to determine the sex of their baby. sure, it'd be nice to give birth to this perfectly, molded child.. but hell.. who are we kidding? i will just let nature take its course.. so i'm neither more or less likely to plan the birthdate of my child. PLUS, even if i were to plan it.. who knows.. maybe i wanted an aries and i planned accordingly.. yet, i had my child 1am april 21st.. off by an hour and now my child is an effing taurus.. you know?

    now i'm blabbing.

(by the way, i am a scorpio).. =P

    1. Yes, I'd love to have a written record of my dreams, as I usually can't remember
    2. No, but I would never have a scorpio baby. I'd even try to avoid that not knowing whether the dispositions are true or not.
